Typical Network Computer systems have the following advantages:
- They are cheaper to buy because they require fewer peripherals
such as hard disk drives and CD-ROMs.
- Because they have fewer peripherals, they can be physically
smaller. This is an important advantage in crowded offices.
- NC software is cross-platform, as it will be written in an
Internet-based language similar to Java. This makes it portable
across a variety of hardware and Operating Systems.
- It is easier for a network manager to monitor
what software is being used on an NC. This may reduce the use of
pirate software or games at work.
